Douglas Shaw MSc BSc/Hons, Founder of Edinburgh Bike Fitting, Lead Bike Fitter.

Dougie is our Lake Shoes specialist and lead bike fitter, and since founding Edinburgh Bike Fitting in 2014, has seen more than 3000 cyclists in his studio and internationally. Building on his MSc in Sports Performance Enhancement, he has gained accreditation as an IBFI Level 3 Bike Fitter.

He has committed himself to further his understanding of bike fitting, becoming a Retul accredited bike fitter in 2014, and attending the 2015 ISCO in Germany and the 2016 ISCO in Manchester. Dougie takes a stance of continual learning and improvement seeking out other international bike fitters to pool and share information.

Andy Mackie, IBFI Bike Fitter, FMS Level 1

Andy is a former multi-disciplined Scottish medalist on road cyclocross and track, having lived and raced abroad in Italy and Belgium in his youth. Andy trained with Dougie and Rory and worked towards his International Bike Fitting Institute accreditation as a bike fitter. Andy has the experience of hundreds of bike fits under his belt across a range of experience levels.

Elliott has worked with us since 2019 having worked in various bike workshops before joining the team

Kenny Duffy MBCHB BSc (Hons) MCSP HCPC MRCGP, Physiotherapist and Medical Doctor.

Kenny graduated from RGU in 2006 with an honours degree in physiotherapy. Since then he has worked in the NHS and sports settings. He has worked with all levels of patients, from initial rehabilitation after surgery to competing at the Olympics.  

While working as a physiotherapist he trained and became a doctor, graduating from the University of Dundee in 2015. He now works for NHS Lothian as a GP registrar. 

His sports physio experience includes the Olympics, Commonwealth, and European Games as well as World and European championships. He has worked with most sports including gymnastics, football, ultimate frisbee, and water polo. 

His main focus within Edinburgh bike fit is injury assessment and treatment with regard to cycling and performance.

Rory Downie MSc, BSc Hons, IBFI Bike FitterStrength and Conditioning specialist triathlon coach.

Rory is an ex-professional triathlete and former European Cross Triathlon champion. He has a degree in Sports Science and an MSc in Strength and Conditioning from The University of Edinburgh. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and has worked with athletes competing internationally, at Olympic and Commonwealth Games. He uses his understanding of kinematics and anatomy to assist in bike fitting, addressing imbalances and mobility limitations to deliver comfort and optimisation.  

Rory runs a performance sports consultancy and coaching business with Edinburgh Bike Fitting: Roarsz Performance, working with individual athletes and bigger organisations such as Hintsa Performance. His practical experience as a professional athlete and academic knowledge places him as an expert in his field of coaching the complete athlete. He works with clients in specific sports training, strength-based training, and physiology testing, while being able to monitor recovery and help athletes achieve their goals
