Lakes New Gravel Shoes: MX30G and MX20G

For 2024 Lake Cycling has expanded its gravel cycling shoe range with two innovative models: the MX30G and the MX20G. Both models are little brothers to Lakes' flagship off-road shoe, the MX333, while introducing features tailored to the gravel cyclist. Designed with Lakes' more aggressive race last, these shoes are engineered for performance and comfort across all gravel riding conditions.

MX30G: Robust Gravel Racing Shoe

Lake MX30G Blue

MX30G White

The MX30G is designed as a robust option for gravel enthusiasts. It's lighter than the MX333, making it an excellent choice for gravel racing. The new lighter-duty sole incorporates a durable lightweight plastic lug on top of a carbon sole, ensuring both performance in terms of weight and stiffness and longevity with a good ability to shrug off the scrapes that come with walking on top of gravel roads. These shoes have room to install toe spikes too. This model stands out with its blue or white design, appealing to riders looking for style as well as functionality, this is probably our favourite looking lake shoe currently!

  • Fit and Comfort: Available in three widths (Narrow, Regular, and Wide) and a broad range of sizes, the MX30G offers a tailored fit for every rider.

  • Performance: The MX30G's aggressive race last and carbon sole with durable lugs are designed for optimal power transfer and grip, making it a solid choice for competitive gravel races.

  • Shop: Narrow Regular Wide

MX20G: Ultra Lightweight with Superior Ventilation

Lake MX20G

The MX20G is tailored for gravel riders who prioritise lightness and breathability. Featuring an ultra-lightweight mesh-paneled design and a lace-up closure, this shoe is perfect for hot days and gravel race events where ventilation and minimal weight are crucial.

  • Breathability: The mesh panels ensure superior airflow, keeping your feet cool even on the hottest rides.

  • Lightweight Design: The MX20G focuses on minimizing weight without sacrificing durability or performance, ideal for long, hot days on gravel.

  • Shop: Narrow Regular Wide

Difference from MX238 Gravel

Both the MX30G and MX20G distinguish themselves from the Lake MX238 Gravel by adopting a more aggressive race-oriented last. The MX238 Gravel, based on a higher volume and less race-oriented competition last, offers a different fit and feel compared to the race-focused design of the new models. This distinction highlights Lakes' commitment to providing a diverse range of options to meet the specific needs and preferences of gravel cyclists.

Final Thoughts

If you are looking at buying the new Lake MX30G or MX20G shoes they are great options if you want something a little more robust go for the 30G and something lightweight the 20G

Worth noting that if you have a super narrow heel that the MX333 is probably a better option as it features a heat mouldable heel cup
